[= ="] GREAT YOU!!!

The textbook which we are using, was published at least 4 years ago. It sounds fresh as an English teaching material, but the information inside still needs to be updated when we concern about “internet” or “computer industry” nowadays. However, it’s not so easy for English textbook-writers to update those instantaneously. Therefore, weather teachers can point out the wrights-and-wrongs or not becomes a certainly important thing to all the learners.

For instance, floppy disk(diskette,軟碟) is nearly no more EXIST recent years. But teacher still told students what floppy disk is a convenient hardware to store data. Even if you may get crazy if students hand in homework by diskette.

Besides, here is one of the mistakes (not just bygone info) in our textbook.
HDD(Hard Disk,硬碟) is NOT the brain of the computer.
Actually the processor (include CPU) is where the computer processes all the data and makes the computer work. As its name ”PROCESSOR”.
Even if people who know few about computer could told you that just like what your student done in class, but you disabuse her and told everyone in class the wrong information. How weird……
(You may check your answer or the default answer on page 32&33 of Internet@English.EFL)

Also, this book is weird in some other ways.
Page 22 says that if readers are interested in the history of Internet, they could check the Appendix A(附錄A) of the bonus CD enclosed herewith this textbook.
HOW can I see a quiz question like following in “Check Point!” unit?
Q: “Contains information about history of the Internet” defines which word?
A: Appendix A
WHAT A FUNNY QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s almost right. But sucky.
